After a short winter break, the lab started on Monday, January 6th, and students have been working hard every day towards their master's and graduation theses.
At the end of last year, a collaborative paper with Shizuoka University, Utsunomiya University, and Kyoto Prefectural University was published in Journal of Natural Products!
The original paper is here.
This joint research project was started based on our synthetic research and Professor Kawagishi's original idea. There are few examples where by-products and biosynthetic pathway hypotheses obtained in synthetic research have been fed back into the analysis of natural products, leading to the discovery of new molecules and the proof of their existence. This research approach is useful not only for the discovery of new natural products and elucidation of biosynthetic pathways, but also for the analysis of extremely small amounts of components contained in organisms in nature.
The paper is available for free download, so please take a look.
